A tribute to my parents

My mothers painting and my fathers Juniper wood work
© NF Photo 210429

Today I thank Rain for the theme Gates and Fences. I finally know what to do with my parents artwork.
My mother loved to paint in oil and my father loved woodwork. Especially in Juniper wood.
Today I combined the Autumn forest and the Juniper pieces of wood.
I wrote their names on the base of the gate.
So far the wood is only placed upon the canvas. Now I have to figure out how to attach them permanently.

I have been fooling around with Geli printing a bit this week. As I don´t have a geli plate I used a transparent, plastic cutting board.

I photographed each stages on the work. First shot is the background painted on the board. Then let it dry. Next I painted a flower on top of it. And the blue stripes.
Image 4 shows the result of having plastic folie on top of the wet color. And ripping it off.
For image 5 I had to spray water on the board as the basic layer were dry. And they need to be wet.
I put a sheet of watercolor paper on top of the wet color. Pressed it down to capture the wet color. And lifted it slowly.

Geli pinted flower on Watercolor paper A4
If you wonder why the final image is turned the other way it is because when you paint on the geli board, you paint the negative and turn it to positive in the last stage.

Had some fun with coffee filter too. Might be the same flower as above!
😉

Take care everyone. It is chilly today, spring is slow, and I have a heater blowing some warmth.

Space

Space, not too far away is Saturn. Painted on a scallop with tempera.

Space! Two colliding galaxies
Photowork.

Orange background painted with GESSO and acrylic color on a photopaper A4. I tried to cover the paper with gesso before coloring it. It was quite cool as it created the curves and features of the spatula I used to spread it out. I let it be uneaven. Then let it dry before coloring several layers. Took quite some time to finish as every layer has to dry before adding the next one. I was planning to paint some flowers on it but change my mind.

Instead of painting I search my files for Akleja-Columbine.  I used an old BW image I have.

Akleja!
And this is the final result. Paint and photo combined in PS.

My world can´t decide weather it is winter or spring. And we have a storm coming so I´d rather stay indoors today.

Mysterious, Dark, Flower and dots

Ice queen
This is a photomontage I started several years ago. I finished it now to Rains promt Mysterious and dark. The model is me. I never finished it as I could not decide if I liked it or not. Yesterday I changed the form of the dress and added some markings in the face. I think it suits the promts as, in my opinion, there is always light in darkness. Without light there is no darkness. And.... we finally got a little ice and snow around where I live.

Stormy
As many of you like the dark and scary stuff I thought I´d ad this to my post today. It is a raven blown away in the storm.  A storm strong and dark enough to destroy our City hall. Created a few years ago.

Dots
I worked a bit more on the acrylics. I wanted to see what colors covers the blue color beneath it.
Acrylics on sketch paper

Dots 2
The above was quite fun so I continued on a photopaper  A4

Albizia silk tree Flower
This is a painting I made from a photo I took in Queensland some years ago.  One of my favorite flower shots. It is a result from what I learned working with the dots above. The flower is painted with a tiny fanbrush I found at the makeup part of  DOLLARSTORE.

I was hoping for sunshine today but instead I have a frosty world outside. Both sun and frost would have been perfect. But I take the frost and will go out and fill my camera.

Take care everyone!

AEDM5 Rains TAD PPF

A foraging White-throated dipper

Rock art
Painted with Tempera on a photographic paper 10*16cm

Just a little "playing around" on photographic paper 10*16cm

I have a lot of these photographic papers in different sizes. It was too annoying  back then to print shots. The colors never turned out the way it was supposed to be. Different setting in the computer and the printer did not match. And it was expensive. So lately I started to paint on them. It is a different way of painting. I thought it would be kind of slippery but the colors stick to the surface and don´t flow easily. So, as with all other material one had to adapt to how it behaves.

Fall is soon over and I have changed to winter tires on my car. To avoid icy streets when I am going places.
Take care everyone, make art and avoid the C.

I will use this post for several days of AEDM.
Every day I will ad the image I have for that day. So, please visit daily as there will be a new one on top.

Crops and farming and............

Rains TAD is about crops and farming today. Nice I thought, I have a lot of that. But, sometimes the more you have makes you trapped. My brain got a meltdown. Not fun! And the images I searched for I did not find. Luckily I had a few beforehand I can share.

This is a manipulated image of rye or barley. Not sure which. It s´was shut at a field after a rainfall.

This is Oats. Photographed and manipulated this summer.

Grass a rainy day manipulated in both Topaz and Photoshop. I like it, wish I could paint like this
😄

I painted this background several days ago. And then my mind was blank.
But this morning I finally dared to paint some oats on it!
Watercolor on A4 watercolorpaper.

This young farmer is me. It is an old shot of course I was probably just 8 years old.
I worked on it in a sketching software I have and made it a painting.
Hat and jeans! The outfit has not changed much. But nowadays I need something on top.

Wounded tree!
Sometimes when trees are wounded and sap are running it can be a very beautiful abstract.
This is pretty much the true colors. Just slightly enhanced. I cropped the image and mirrored it.

Paint and photo work, hard soft and wet

Oslo!
This is created from an image when I was on a train in Oslo, Norway, going north.
I took a quick shot through the window and played with it later. It is created by two images of the same shot. One rotated 180 deg to create this architecture for Rains TAD. (to be honest I created it a few years back)

Grebe abstract  (photowork)

This is the same as above but my lamp was on. I liked the effect so I share that as well. I think if would be nice as a photo poster.

Blue eye!
I was bored one day and so I played around a bit with water, soap and drops of oil. And, this happened.

Goddesses and some grass

"The Birth of Venus" (Sandro Botticelli) 1485  This image that Rain had found on her search of Masters says Venus. I thought this figurine was Afrodite.

At least this is NIKE, but who created her I have no clue.
Nike as the Winged Victory of Samothrace, c. 200-190 BC,

These are imaged from 130223 so they are old ones.  The  two above are slightly edited in Photoshop

Below are images showing the setting for my "photoshoot" with Goddesses figurines

Nike and Afrodite or if it is Venus   😕

Sand on a black baking sheet

At that time I had a bowl of water standing in the window. In February the sun created a rainbow on the floor. So I decided to play a little with goddesses and settings. The bowl in the window is the source to the rainbow. My files are almost overloaded with images from that day. Glad I found them. 😄

And a little grass also today
Leaves and grass
Watercolor on watercolor paper A4
For this one I used makeup pencils. A tiny one for the grass and leaves and a feather for the grass on the ground. For the background I used a pencil I think is used for powder on your face.
It was easy to work with makeup brushes and I like the result. Hope you like it too.

The color choices came from one of my socks..😄

A little of this....a little of that

Carnation in a piece of Birch bark
I am born in Sagittarious  and Carnation is the flower I choose for  Rains TAD this week.

April Bonfire
Last day of April we celebrate spring in Sweden with a bonfire and students singing. This year the celebration was cancelled of course so I painted my own. Tempera on photo paper.

Many of my walls are bearing wall and hard to put nails in. Over at Dollarstore I bought a large canvas and arranged six of my smaller canvases (20x20 cm) on it, that way I only had to hammer one hook in the wall instead of six.

Floating red moon
This is a collage and manipulation of two images.

And, finally! In Corona times I have now created a visor that I can adapt on my glasses. You put the spectacles sidepieces in the holes with the plastic in front of the glasses.
Works well as long as there is not strong winds blowing them around. And I don´t get steam on my glasses.
So, this is me in the photo. 😃
