Mistakes good and bad

 Skratch
This is a small one 20x20cm that I did not like and tried to "fix" but the colors dried and messed up. Finally I got tired and skratched the canvas with my nails. That´s how this happened. Colors a bit enhanced in Photoshop.

Flow and blow
Colors on black LP blown away with a straw. Was rather pleased with it.

Flames
But then I happened to move it and the colors ran wild. But I have to say I like it. It looks like colorful flames to me :) This is what it looks dried. Except for the blue circle, That is PS.

Whatever
Not sure how this will end :(

I was trying to follow a video tutorial on YouTube. A 10 minute nature scene. And the artist was done with trees and all. This is what I made in 30 min. :( It is much to dark, the colors dried too quickly and did not "flow" as was shown in the video. The teachers often forget that newbies don't know how the colors work. His paint was soft and fluid. Mine isn´t. They forget to tell you the thickness of the paint. They also forget we don´t have the experience of painting even the simplest landscape. We have to think and figure out. An artist with years of experience just do it with their spinal cord. :)
And, how much paint do they have on their brushes? It seem to be enough for the entire painting sometimes. They paint and paint and there are still color in the brush? Using magic??

Well, I have not given up yet. It has to be brighter. I have to paint white over it and then I see what it looks like.
If you wonder, I have worked as a teacher too, but in an other area.

Hope you guys have a great Friday and weekend. We have a lot of snow now. Not good for long walks.

Coral reef and Grand Prismatic

After I wet and flattened the leather I placed them on a black board I already had. I glued them on with medium and let it dry before painting

I did not want to fill the entire board with balloon pattern I wanted the leather to be visible, so I placed medium and the colors like this. Then I can also see what they look like when the colors blends.

I ended up with the board and a canvas. I used the canvas to "clean" the balloon from excess colors. That way my balloon patterns did not mix with each other.

When I saw this final board I immediately thought ... Coral reef. :) So, this turned out to be for my granddaughter. She is leaving for Queensland Feb 4th. She will study Marine biology Master class so she will spend a lot of time in the Great Barrier reef. I envy her!

Grand Prismatic inspiration shot

Colors, balloon and the canvas with colors before ballooning. I painted the blue with my fingers. I kind of like how it turned out.

In this case I used too much red color. The blue in the middle must be much larger. I actually like the last ballon pattern I made on the test canvas I have.

But it is FUN to experiment!

As Nicole mentioned in her post we had a nice chat of ideas. Nicole was interested in the balloon flower pattern from last week.  She finally got me to look through the bag of small leather pieces I have stored for many years. We chatted about how to get the best result from balloon painting. And leatherwork. What material I have is not good for sculpting so I will try other things. And Coral Reef was fun to create. Thanks Nicole!

Kind of messy balloonart

This was fun to work with. And it did not take that much color as a pour does. Also gives you more control of patterns. The balloon press the color out in a circual pattern. I added a few more drops of colors during the dripping balloon process.

Resin digital and acrylic color

I made my first three Resin pieces. As I am not the girly type so I used forest items. It is moss, lichen and acorns.  You might remember I tried several ways as I wanted to preserve the beautiful colors in the acorns. This seem to work.
I used a silicon icecube form for this but was a bit disturbed as it buckled. Sides are not straight. And there are bubbles in the first one but with tiny mosses and lichen it was expected and actually fitting.

This is one of my chain pulls. I edited it a lot in Photoshop, I copied the white pull and made an Extrude of the form. Then put it back on the background careful to cover the real pull. It worked :) :)

A while back I bought a set of acrylic colors. As I am quite unfamiliar with them I decided to open them up and see how they work on different papers. 2 white papers and the black carbon.
It is quite obvious what colors can be used on the black carbon paper. And probably on black canvas.

The tubes was filled to the limit and color burst out when probing the hole. I had to go and get a safety needle to prick just a tiny hole in them. I liked the burnt sienna a lot :)

Pour and face

Hi guys, and Happy New Year!
I´m starting out with a pour. This was as I was half way. Liked it so I took a shot before I continued. I did some more to it but did not get any good shots. Too much light reflexion destroyed the image.

The faces happened as I was trying out a pencil on sketching paper. Thought it was fun so I ended up with three faces.
