Sent to my grandmother in 1909, she was 5 year old.
Today, last sunday in May, Swedish people celebrate Mothers day.
This card was sent to my grandmother (my fathers mother) in 1909 on the Ingrid name-day in our almanack. My grandmothers name was Ingrid and her name is written on the card. She was born 1904 so she was 5 years old when she recieved the card. Before she died I was given all of her cards to take care of.

That's so lovely! I've saved all my cards and letters since I was a kid, in hopes they'll mean something to future generations. :)
ReplyDeleteNature was the center of life even back then. What a precious card and how lucky you are to be the keeper of your Grandmothers cards. I have been busy this week ... it is planting flowers, clearing weeds, cutting up a huge limb that fell from our tree. My body tells me I should leave it all to the young to do, but my young are all very busy as well ... working :) Will try to catch up sometime this week. Happy Mothers Day ... I am thinking you must be an awesome Mother as you seem to be awesome everything else :)

Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteA lovely tribute to the Mothers in your family, Monica.
ReplyDeleteNice tribute. I made the hard decision last year to throw out a good portion of the cards I had saved. We were moving out of the country and had limited space.
